Welcome to Wedmore Group’s ‘Scouting at home’ hub

We know that you are all missing your regular scouting activities, but that you want to keep up to date with your badgework and try other interesting challenges, so we have made this special website for you so that you can do just that. However, the things to do on this website are not meant to replace the ‘special challenges’ that some of you are being set for you to do by your Beaver, Cub or Scout Leaders; these are for you to try as well! On here you will find worksheets for you to have a go at, which will help you check what you know now, and teach you some new things as well. As far as we can, we are making them so that they will count towards your Challenge Awards and Activity Badges. You will find these on the ‘Worksheets’ page where they are marked which section that they are most suitable for, as well as how ‘messy’ they maybe when you are doing the activity. We will also put onto this website any links to other information that we think may be useful to you; which you will find on the ‘Other challenges’ page.

But first - you are living through history right now!

The Group has an empty ‘time capsule’ in its stores at the Den, and using it would be a great way of marking the end of the virus illness when it is all over, but it will need some really interesting stuff to put inside it. History is being made right now and you are part of it. What is happening around the world at the moment is not likely to happen again, if ever, in your lifetime. So, make a record of your ‘virus stay at home’ life as it is now, by taking a bit of time to fill in the pages of a special Journal that your future self can look back on. You can download a copy of the blank Journal by ‘clicking’ here. Once you have filled all of your Journal, keep it somewhere safe to look at in the future; and if possible, make a copy of the Journal document for the Group so that it can be put into the ‘time capsule’. Here are some ideas of other things to include with the copy of the Journal that you keep: Pictures of your family and pets Some photos from this time Special memories Local newspaper pages or cuttings Any artwork you create

How to make the most of this website

There are a few different types of worksheets and other activities, some are creative like making something, but others require some working out and need to be checked. If you have made something towards your badgework, take a photograph of it and send the picture of it to your leader, so that they can keep your badgework record up to date. If it is a bit more complicated, then either scan or photograph the completed worksheet and send it to your leader, so that they can check it and update your badgework record; of if this is not possible, then make sure that your name is on it, and keep it in a safe place until we can all get on with our scouting again; then hand it to your leader. When tackling some of these challenges you may find that you require pieces of cardboard, coloured paper, plastic bottles, and other similar bits and pieces; so try to be resourceful and look amongst you household recycling fist to see if you can find what you need there. You can email your pictures and/or scanned documents to your leader at the most suitable of the following email addresses:
